We check the same seven hardware products on Newegg every week. This week, two of them weren't there at all.
Not "expensive." Not "backordered." Zero units, sold by Newegg, in stock. That's a different kind of story than a price increase, and it's worth taking seriously on its own.
What We Actually Found This Week

RTX 5090: completely out of stock, no listing sold by Newegg had any units available

Why Availability Matters as Much as Price
A price increase tells you a product costs more. A stockout tells you something different, that supply couldn't meet demand at any price Newegg was willing to sell at.
For a card like the RTX 5090, this isn't entirely surprising given everything we've covered about GPU pricing pressure this year. But it's a data point worth tracking in its own right, separate from whether the card is expensive. A $4,000 card you can't buy at all is a different problem than a $4,000 card sitting on a shelf.
The Crucial T705 situation is a little different. Gen 5 NVMe storage has been climbing steadily, and now the specific drive we track isn't available either. Worth watching whether this becomes a pattern across Gen 5 storage more broadly, or whether it's isolated to this one model.
What This Means If You're Shopping Right Now
If you're chasing an RTX 5090 specifically, expect to be checking stock repeatedly, not just comparing prices. Availability, not cost, is the current bottleneck
